“I dreamed last night of Ohio… and a million singing trees…“ (From Cordova Dreams- “Watersongs”)

Hello friend!… What we have here is a musical journey that started sometime in 1986. That was the year I went to Alaska to visit my sister in the sea locked town of Cordova nestled on the shore of the Prince William Sound. The songs written that Summer began to form a project that became the musical celebration “Watersongs”. That recording to this day remains a document of my love for canoeing, sailing, and all those things that fill my passion for the natural world.

Fast forward to the E.J.Thomas Performing Arts Hall in Akron, Ohio on May 18th, 2024 where we recorded this performance…. Live! In-between the start and ending points of the evening you will find the tireless efforts of Eric Benjamin who took my simple vocal and guitar parts and transformed them into arrangements that coaxed out emotions as large as the landscapes bordering the rivers and streams that inspired these lyrics and lines.

Also included in the setlist is a singalong written during my residency at the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center … ”All the Rivers Run”… There can be no greater joy than knowing this song has been taught, sung and passed along to a host of students, interns and teachers over the span of thirty plus years. I have Deb Yandala and Janice Mattucci to thank for this. The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park continues this good work and it would be worth a look to see what’s bubbling in the watershed here in Northern, Ohio by drifting by their website.

Finally, there is not enough space to thank everyone who helped bring this project to fruition. It has been my honor to share these moments of life with you… ‘till then….
